Print-Ready File Specs

This was previously known as 'camera-ready art', but these days, we use computer files that go straight to the presses.

Print-Ready files types:
.tiff or .psd(flattened, no layers),
.pdf, or .eps (convert text to curves or shapes for pdf & eps files)

SPECS on Print-ready files:
Color Mode: CMYK
Resolution: 300 DPI (minimum)

Margins:
Main or Text Margin: 1/8" (All text and images other than the background image should be at least 1/8" from the edge of the paper.)
Bleed Margin: 1/16"
If you want ink printed to the edges of the paper, Make your canvas .125" larger than the final printed size
so standard 3.5"x2" business cards would have a canvas size of 3.625x2.125
(3.5" x 4" foldover business cards would need a canvas size of 3.625" x 4.125").
Your background image would cover the entire canvas.
Make a bleed margin 1/16" from each edge of the cards. After printing, we cut them down to size.
You will lose 1/16" of your background image on all sides.
This ensures that there is no white space around the edges after cutting.
